Most people knew Morocco from the 1942 Hollywood movie “Casablanca” and the song “Marakesh Express”. Morocco is also known to the world for the Sahara desert and their unique Moroccan patterns are seen on their buildings, pottery, and many other items. However, there are many interesting facts that the world doesn’t know about Morocco.
Kingdom of Morocco
- Morocco’s official name is actually Kingdom of Morocco. Yes! Morocco is a monarchy just like United Kingdom and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Their king is King Mohammed VI while their crown prince is Prince Moulay Hassan (as of 2020)

- Casablanca is not the capital of Morocco. Although the city has the highest population with over 3 million people, Rabat is the real capital of Morocco with 1.6 million people or almost half of Casablanca’s

- Moroccans love cats. Aren’t cats so adorable? Almost every city and town you visit in the country is full of cats. You will see many domestic cats and stray cats. So, chances are you might dine in with some cats around.The population of these cats is out of control because..uhm..cats are just loving creatures. Aren’t they?

- Other interesting facts about Morocco are its hashish production and exportation. As of 2019, Morocco is the second-largest producer of Hashish, a byproduct of cannabis. it was the number one producer for the 2002-2010 period. It is illegal in Morocco but people seem to use it publicly anyway.
